about

Your Spring is dedicated to Owen Kortz’s brother Jason, a Navy SEAL who died in a parachuting accident in March 2015. “It was the first song I wrote after he passed,” says Kortz. “I feel like he was talking to me through the song.” Lyrics like “You know, sometimes we have the answers, clear as the summer breeze. Sometimes it’s a horizon, and at best a mystery” speak of the depth of loss and the effort it takes to carry on.

lyrics

It’s the beauty of the mountains
When the snow melts into green
It’s the smiles of the village
That are welcoming me

You know sometimes we have the answers
Clear as a summer breeze
And sometimes it’s a horizon
And at best a mystery

Carry me home
On the wings of an angel
You’re never alone
I can tell you that now

We are born into a family
And we’re held close to the chest
But we die into our nature
A heart that’s bigger than you’d guess

So don’t you cry for me no
Don’t you make a scene
Cause I have to go
But I’ll see you in your spring

Go, boy, go
